Flawless Skin Made Easy
Living in a climate where it’s pretty much sunny 24/7 is both a blessing and a curse. The blessing? Awesome weather. The curse? Pigmentation from that awesome weather. Thankfully we take your complexion very seriously, so we chose the best when we researched which device to offer you. At EllEve Med Spa in Woodland Hills IPL Photofacial treatments can treat the body to improve the appearance of your neck, chest, hands, and arms to help address hyperpigmentation, age spots, freckles, and spider veins.
What is IPL Photofacial
The Limelight IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) with the Cutera Xeo machine is a minimally invasive treatment that helps to address age spots, hyperpigmentation from the sun, and redness from broken capillaries, all while boosting collagen. At EllEve Med Spa, IPL rejuvenating treatments are performed not only on the face but also on other parts of the body to improve the appearance of your hands, arms, neck, and chest for a wide variety of skin concerns, including:
Enhancing Natural Elegance
IPL Photofacials are great for reducing the appearance of sun damage, age spots, fine lines, acne scars, and wrinkles. In addition, these treatments are minimally invasive and have little to no downtime. Good candidates for IPL photofacials are adults who want to get rid of facial blemishes while maintaining realistic goals. IPL photofacial treatment can yield incredible results, but there is always a possibility of blemishes not being entirely erased. Therefore, having realistic expectations and being in overall good health before getting IPL treatments is important.
You should not receive IPL Photofacials if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have any skin conditions that may be made worse by IPL.

Lovely and Luminous
During your IPL Photofacial, you will feel a quick, warm rubber-band snap; with each pulse, the laser accurately targets the melanocytes with a broad-spectrum light into the sub-dermis. This essentially ‘shatters’ the pigment. As with most laser treatments, you will need multiple sessions of IPL, as it takes time for the deeper pigmentation to be brought up to the surface.
Your Skin’s New Best Friend
Following an IPL Photofacial Woodland Hills patients will see full results about a week after your treatment. You should return for IPL treatments about once a month until your desired goals are achieved. Most patients receive four to five treatments.
IPL treatments do not always yield permanent results - some particularly stubborn spots may return months after treatment. You can always come back and have those spots touched up if you happen to experience them. Acne scars and other light facial scarring are typically permanently resolved after all of your recommended treatments. Your aesthetic specialist will be able to tell you more about your specific skin type and how many treatments you may need.
Embrace Your Beauty
Downtime is minimal – you will see the superficial pigment turn darker and essentially turn into what looks like little coffee grounds. They will stay on your skin for a few days and slough off naturally. You are able to wear makeup with this process, and it looks like you just have darker freckles.
Some patients find that applying cooling or soothing gel is beneficial, as it cools the skin as it heals. At EllEve Med Spa we use and recommend SkinCeuticals phyto-corrective mask following your treatment. The sensation right after your treatment will be similar to a mild sunburn, though this feeling should subside within a day or two.
Some people may experience mild redness, swelling, or skin irritation after an IPL photofacial, but these side effects are usually short-lived and resolve on their own within a few days.
Most people experience mild discomfort during an IPL photofacial, which feels like a rubber band snapping against the skin. However, this discomfort is temporary and can be managed with cooling gels or other pain-relieving methods.
IPL photofacial is most effective for people with fair to medium skin tones. It may not be suitable for people with very dark skin tones, as the light energy can cause discoloration or hyperpigmentation. It's important to discuss your skin type and any concerns with your skincare professional before undergoing IPL.
